A ROMANTIC WEDDING IN PATRAS

Usually when your best friend tells you they are getting married, you crack open a bottle of wine and you celebrate, bursting with excitement. When you are Anais… you do all of this and immediately start an excel spreadsheet and make a TO DO LIST!!

Whatever I say about life with Evita will always be a summary! She approached me outside our university's office because she loved French and had heard me speaking ... Since then 14 years have passed. Unique years, with many emotional ups and downs, life changing decisions, temporary goodbyes, and journeys together! And ever since then, she has had her Panagiotis! Panagiotis the one, Panagiotis the only!  We finished school.  We studied.  We left to work on our post graduates.  For all of it, he was there! Either as a presence or as a thought. He was there through the bad and the beautiful...

One day, our Evita, this girl with white skin, dark curls and crimson lips whispered to us...WE’RE GETTING MARRIED! Since that moment, we scuttled to work! Not Evita but la fete and Anais!! Shopping, ideas, wedding dresses, rehearsals. Everything was done effortlessly because every decision was mutual! Same taste, same choices!

A minimal wedding concept was chosen, in the colours of grey and yellow. Having searched all of Athens and the internet for fabrics and deco details we started creating! Mrs Dina (mum of the bride) of course performed her miracles! She made the tablecloths, the favours, the delicate doilies and sweet powdered shortbread in heart shapes. Entwined around the fabric envelope favours, we added the wedding logo of black matte wire.

Our flowers were Camomile, Sempreviva and various field blossoms placed in grey baskets. The traditional candles were decorated with two simple tassels to draw attention to the white wax. The church's set contained a wooden vintage tray and a grey glass and carafe. On the dining tables, we chose grey vases filled with white and yellow blossoms. On the white tablecloths we added a grey and white spotted table runner where we placed the handmade doilies in various shapes. White candles warmed the atmosphere.

The marriage took place in the restored temple of Panagia Pantanassis in the city centre of Patras. The Party continued at Distinto Bar & Restaurant.  Intense celebrating, dancing and drinking ensued....

Whatever I say to sum up this event will not be objective because it was the wedding of Evita & Panagiotis whom I love so much!!!!
