Eva & Paolo

A Bespoke Wedding on the Amazing Greek Cycladic Island of Syros!

Eva and Paolo fell in love with  the cosmopolitan Greek island of Syros while visiting close friends with connections to the island. The moment the couple set foot there they knew it is where they would have their dream wedding.

Syros is an incredibly unique island with its combination of impressive architecture, Venetian and neoclassical buildings, and historical churches that draw attention to all who visit. Syros has an undeniable magic with its charming sun-bleached villages, lovely sandy beaches cradled by the Aegean sea. Every corner you turn, you are astounded by this cycladic island’s natural beauty. It is truly a place where wedding dreams come true. Organising the ultimate minimalist wedding starts with the invitation. La fete worked with Eva and Paolo to create the perfect wedding invitation to suit the style of their wedding. The couple ultimately went with white courier style invitations, with kraft envelopes. The invitations included a minimal courier font with a map of the island on the opposite side. The outcome turned out to be minimalist perfection!

Eva and Paolo chose to have the wedding preparations at their friends’ magnificent villa. The villa with its spectacular views of Greek sunny skies, the magical Aegean sea and contrasting traditional architecture of the island proved to be the ideal “getting ready” venue.

The beautiful, bespoke bride Eva had exquisite taste for every single detail of the wedding! Eva and Paolo discussed in depth their style preferences with la fete and what they had envisioned their dream wedding day would be like. It was important to the couple to maintain a natural colour palette of white and beige to keep an elegant and minimal ambience while highlighting the natural beauty of the island.  La fete carefully curated every component to make sure every detail was authentic and coordinated with the couples’ minimal white wedding concept in mind.

On the big day, the stylish bride wore a timelessly elegant minimal wedding gown of lace and organza and carried a breathtaking wildflower bridal bouquet that was absolutely stunning. The beaming groom along with his groomsmen, looked sharp in their deep mediterannean blue suits and crisp white shirts.

The Italian groom and the Greek bride wanted to incorporate both their cultures and religions into their wedding day. So on their special day, Paolo and Eva chose to have two wedding ceremonies; a Catholic and an Orthodox. The cultural and religious traditions were intertwined in such a lovely way that it was truly one-of-a-kind experience for their loved ones.

The first wedding ceremony took place at the historic Saint George Catholic Church built in 1200 on the highest point of Ano Syros. While the Orthodox wedding took place at the magnificent Byzantine Church of Saint Nicholas. The decorations of both churches’ stayed true to the couples’ minimal white wedding concept. The churches were adorned with large naturally woven baskets filled with baby’s breath and the ceremonies included adorable flower girls carrying minimal baskets filled with rice and dried chamomile.

The lovely couple offered Italian and Greek aperitifs, between the Catholic and the Orthodox ceremonies, where guests enjoyed ouzo and prosecco served with local turkish delight in the picturesque village of Ano Syros. The unparalleled views of the beautiful Greek island were truly astonishing!

To keep guests cool from the Greek summer heat, la fete placed white circle fans that read “We know...it's hot...P & E” on the wedding ceremony chairs. La fete organized a rare vintage Greek cabrio utility vehicle called the “Pony.” to transfer the couple from the wedding venue to the wedding reception. After the ceremony, to keep guests on the right path, la fete created baby's breath markers along an island footpath from the church to the wedding reception.

The elegant seaside venue was a timeless wedding wonderland, with tables dressed with white cloth, soft lighting and centerpieces of elegant white ortansia housed in glass cylinder vessels. When guests arrived, they found at each place setting, a gourmet menu and wedding favors of beige linen pouches with burlap rope filled with candied almonds and minimal black boxes that included Paul Sarz pendants.

At the dinner, everyone was served a delicious, Greek gourmet three-course dinner and wines. Wedding guests savoured the iconic flavours of authentic cuisine from Syros based on the highest quality, seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. The live band played elegant love songs under a canopy of crocheted umbrellas and the starry Greek night sky. The musical notes floated through the tranquil evening air while guests laughed, danced and celebrated the amazing couple. The evening ended with a bang as a large firework display added a little extra magic to this perfect wedding celebration.
