A MARVELOUS WEDDING ON PAXOS ISLAND
This wedding is a statement for us! From the very beginning till the end, it was an amazing experience for both, the couple and for us! In contrast to the blue-white backdrop the Cycladic islands, in which we are familiar with, the absolutely green landscape of Paxos islands in Ionian sea, helped us to settle a unique fiesta! Stephanie & Clement, a truly smiley and kind couple from France, had visited Paxos for holidays and knew that it was their wedding destination. Their families arrived from Colombia, France, Lebanon, South Afica.
The romantic dark green tones of eucalyptus were the basic theme, along with wheat, olive leaves and wild flowers. La Fete team designed all the creative parts, like the Save the Date, the invitations, wedding favours and stationery, based on this theme.
Elegance simplicity decoration, a traditional caique, a picturesque chapel, a tavern’s yard and a lot of party mood were the absolute necessities! On the big day, the bride and groom’s preparations started separately from early in the morning. La fete had booked the perfect villas for that reason. Friends and families were all there giving their best to keep up the happy atmosphere. A close friend of Stephanie was the hair & makeup artist and honestly, he managed to make her bright smile even brighter! In the meantime, the la fete team was decorating and supervising the reception. The amazing yard of this seaside tavern was ideal! Lush trees, gravel ground, wooden furniture and all these with the echo of the sea! White paper lanterns hung from the string lights made the scenery look like a fairy tale! The straight rows of baboos was the perfect frame. We gathered all wooden brown greek furniture and we created a long long table. No tableclothes, no campy décor just candles, silent furniture, pure elements.
One of the most memorable moments of the wedding day was looking at the bride and groom walking through the small alleys of the island, along with their beloved ones and a traditional group of musicians, till the pier of the small port. The couple and its guests boarded in different caiques. The sailing route to the isolated picturesque chapel was an unforgettable moment for all the passengers. They didn’t stop singing, hugging and enjoying the journey! We decorated the caique with fresh lavender and eucalyptus.
The ceremony took place in reverence. The guests sang the Gospel of the wedding in parallel with the Priest. The little paper book with Gospel text was custom made by La Fete. All were excitedly watching the couple starting its common life. Nothing but some small bouquets with wheat and lavender were needed to decorate the picturesque chapel. The natural backdrop was enough, making the scenery ideal for the lens of the photographer Aris Nikolaidis (Eye Witness Stories) and videographer Kostas Petsas (Cinema of Poetry). At this point, we would like to proudly inform you that the wedding video of Kostas Petsas received a nomination for the Golden Lens Awards 2020! He captured this authentic wedding exactly as it was! Authentically marvellous!
Ending the ceremony, the caiques were there to pick up the guests. They disembarked at the small pier in front of the tavern and walked till the adorned yard. Glass bottles with virgin greek olive were given to the guests as wedding favors. La fete team helped the guests to find their seats and all together were waiting with excitement for the couple's arrival after its first photo shooting as a married couple.
The night which followed, it was full of emotional moments. A projector was showing some favourite photos of the couple and its love story. A photobooth was there as well capturing some great memories and a three level fruity wedding cake made the couple's common life start with sweetness. Paper sky lanterns were left free to touch the sky conveying messages of luck and love. Emotional toasts and dance. Lots of dance thanks to the playlist of our best DJ.
Stephanie & Clement, we can’t find the perfect words to describe our gratitude for your trust! We truly thank you for those memories! We would also like to mention that without the help of all our friends in Paxos this event wouldn’t be the same! Can’t wait for the next one!
P.S. Don’t ever lose your bright smile!
